Georgetown’s Institute of International Economic Law and the Graduate Institute, Geneva’s Center for Trade and Economic Integration will co-host a one-day conference on resolving disputes in international economic law on July 11th, 2018. The conference will be the 18th year in which the two institutions (the “G2”) have organized summer events, and this year the meeting will take place at Georgetown Law, in anticipation of the Society of International Economic Law’s annual meetings.
The G2 conference will explore dispute resolution broadly, comparing insights and strategies from international trade, financial regulation, tax and monetary affairs. Suggested topics for the conference include:
- Navigating Brexit/NAFTA/TPP: Coping Techniques Across Disciplines?
- Technology’s Impact on International Economic Law: Fissures and Remedies
- Extraterritoriality: Evolving Lessons in Its Deployment, Justification and Circumvention
- Law and (the New) Economics: How Governments are Using IEL to Generate (or Take) Economic Growth and Competitiveness
- Multilateralism and Dispute Resolution: Evolving Trends, or Coming to an End?
- The Changing Relationship of Corporations and the State in International Economic Law
How to Submit: paper proposals are due by March 30, and should be sent to IIEL via email at lawiiel@georgetown.edu with the subject line “G2 2018 Conference Paper Proposal.” The conference will be open to the public, and a link for registration (mandatory) will be forthcoming.
