Panel discussion at the Georgetown Law Center, in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

It was a pleasure interviewing Europe’s capital markets chief, Steven Maijoor, at Georgetown Law.  Among the interesting observations:

First, that decisions on cross-border equivalence are not yet finished and that negotiations were continuing.  Second, that Facebook’s cryptocurrency at least as of last week, was still viewed as a routine point of regulatory concern.  Third, that ESMA’s approach as to the treatment of cross-border clearinghouses was under review before Brexit, though the decision had accelerated the need to reexamine the issue.
